The Sterling pass guarantee
Sterling pass guarantee: sit the exam and don't pass, and your access continues free for another year. Four conditions, all of them things you control:
- You completed every lesson and its quiz before the exam.
- You sat every timed mock exam in the course before the exam.
- You sat the real exam within your 12 months' access.
- You send us the result within 30 days of receiving it.
If all four hold and the result is not a pass, we add another 12 months' access to the same course at no charge, as many times as you need it. The guarantee is extended access, not a refund; exam fees are paid to the exam board and are not covered.

How you sit the exam
We teach the course. Your exam is booked through an approved exam centre, where you sit the same papers as school candidates and receive the same qualification. Sterling College London is not yet an approved GCSE exam centre, so you enter as a private candidate — here is exactly how that works.
Entries for November 2026 close on 4 October 2026
That is 16 days away. Exams run from 2 November 2026 to 11 November 2026, with results on 14 January 2027. Book your centre first, then start the course — centres fill up and they are not obliged to accept private candidates.
- 1.Find a centre that takes private candidates. Search for “private candidate exam centre” alongside your town, and check the lists the exam boards publish. Contact several — availability varies and places are limited.
- 2.Check the board matches. Ask which exam board the centre enters for. Our lessons cover the content all boards share, but knowing your board lets you practise the right past papers.
- 3.Budget for the entry fee. This is separate from your course fee and paid to the centre. The exam board’s own fee is around fifty pounds a subject; centres add administration and invigilation on top, so expect roughly £120 to £350 per subject in total. Ask for the all-in price.
- 4.Enter before the deadline. Late entries cost roughly double, and very late entries more again. The centre enters you — you cannot enter yourself directly with the exam board.
One thing specific to English Language. The qualification includes a spoken language endorsement, which is reported separately from your grade. Many private candidates cannot complete it and are recorded as “not classified” for that part. It does not affect your grade from one to nine, and it does not stop the qualification counting where a grade four or above is required — but ask your centre whether they can assess it, because some can.
Deadlines and fees are set by the exam boards and centres, not by us, and can change. Confirm both with your chosen centre before you rely on them.
