Entering as a private candidate

We teach the course. You sit the exam at an approved centre.

Sterling is not a GCSE exam centre, and we say so plainly because it changes what you have to do.
  • Find a centre that accepts private candidates and book your place. Entry fees are paid to the centre, not to us, and are separate from the course price.
  • 4 October 2026 is the standard entry deadline for the November 2026 series. Later entries are usually possible until 25 October 2026 at roughly double the fee.
  • Exams run 2 November 2026 to 11 November 2026; results are published 14 January 2027. For English Language, ask the centre about the spoken language endorsement — not every centre offers it to private candidates.

Not sure where to start? Email admin@sterlingcollegelondon.com and a person at the college will help you find a centre.

Questions

Common questions

Is there an age limit?
No upper limit. The course is built for 16+ and most of our resitters are adults who need a grade 4 for nursing, teaching, the police, an apprenticeship or a university place.
How long will it take?
Each subject is a full syllabus course you can work through at your own pace, with 12 months' access — so if November is too soon, the same course covers the summer series.
Can I see it before I buy?
Yes. Every lesson is listed on the Maths and English pages, and there is a free preview lesson on each.
Who teaches it?
Lessons are presented by Emma, our AI teacher. The curriculum is written by Sterling College London tutors, and the live revision classes are taught by real tutors.

Sterling College London is accredited by ASIC (AS98047/0309). We are not a GCSE exam centre and cannot enter you for an exam; entries are made through an approved centre as a private candidate. Exam entry fees are payable to that centre and are not included in the course price.
